Healthcare system
What do you think of the health service in our country?
I think the health service in Chile isn't that bad, because even if have mainly bad things also has some good qualities.
In the first place, talking about the good qualities of the education of health professionals is exigent with the students about responsibility, ethics, and dedication. In addition, the career is the longest compared to others. Unfortunately, mainly specialized professionals prefer to stay in big cities and private services.
In the second place, about a bad aspect of health service is the segregation between public service and private service, because as I mentioned earlier many professionals are part of the private system (Isapres) that is more expensive than the public system and for that reason, most people can't opt for better attention. This produces a saturation in the public system for example the long waiting hours for scheduling.
In my personal experience that I'm from Copiapó, many times I had to travel to Santiago because my city didn't have a specialized professional to attend to a specific problem. The travel becomes an extra cost besides the medical attention and many times I lost my daily activities for it.
Thanks for reading me :)
Great blog! I like that you are giving visibility to a problem that people from regions have to deal with. The centralization of the accessibility to resources in our country is another big problem that we have to talk about.
ResponderEliminarHi! I agree that the health system in Chile has good things, especially in the private system. I hope the government will help to balance things between the public system and the private system.
ResponderEliminarHello, I'm from the region, from a small town and it's true that go get good care You have to travel to a bigger city, this raises costs even more and the time it takes to do that is also important, I hope that one day that change.
ResponderEliminarHi Fran, I think your point is one of the only pros of the healthcare system in Chile, it is always nice to see the glass half full.
